I agree Michael. I lived in Scandinavia for many years and watched as Norway had a massive windfall from its Oil assets and came out of it with a Trillion dollars in a sovereign wealth fund. That was for 4 million people.... they might have 5 million people now and well over a trillion in the bank and on the international stock market.

When I came home to Australia I watched the massive mineral and gas boom we went through. We came out of that with a debt...

This left me scratching my head more than just a little. Norway makes sure it gets a fair price for all its assets and ensures a portion is invested wisely and ethically for the countries future. I don't think Australia has put up its iron ore tax on BHP since the 70s. We are too happy just to take a diminishing number of jobs for our assets...sure jobs are great though mechanization, robotics and remote administration of plant and assets have made even the employment side of mining a diminishing benefit.

You can only dig crap up once. I can't remember what Chiles tax is on foreign companies mining its assets but I for one am glad our company will pay that. Its fair and keeps the locals happy.

Too many big multinationals in Australia have been allowed for too long to move money and often imaginary debt through offshore tax havens and pay zero effective tax here.

But we are giving you jobs they argue? Well the few jobs benefit a few families but these are Australias, all the families of Australias mineral assets.

Big companies only pay what they are forced to. We have pretty unique assets here, I reckon we should be forcing these bastards a little bit harder..

    Anyway..

Directly on the economic pain caused by Covid, the countries that took it seriously and moved hardest, fastest and with cohesive national policies have fared and will continue to fare the best. Luckily Australia and New Zealand are two of these countries...

Obviously the US and the UK didn't and will be paying far longer than us for the damage Covid has done. Many of the worlds biggest economies handled Covid the worst. This is why gold can only trend one way from here with of course the odd consolidation as seen yesterday..

Wouldn't be anywhere else but gold at the moment and its pretty hard to find a more promising gold spec than TSO
