from what I've read the water table destruction angle is due to some Mickey Mouse Yank Outfit bothching their UCG process some years back.Unfortunately the farmers lobby group Agforce has latched on to this and joined the greenie chorus Lobby who just don't want COAL power clean, grey or dirty.

Looking at fixator's map but with very limited knowledge of Geology,I would surmise that 500metres may be too shallow for Carbon Sequestation.I would imagine one would need a "capping" rock strata for making such chambers.

See Carbon Sequestration will allow No Margin for error. It can't leak and it certainly can't burst.Has to work from Day One.
Now I could easily be wrong about this.I'm just repeating what I've gleaned from the popular press.Maybe Peter Pumpkinhead who's a forum member up on all this Green Jive could be able to be more definitive/enlightening?

Anyway,I doubt CNX has the money to pursue this angle.Seems to me this is a Myth re CNX that has come into currency because of CSIRO involvement in CNX.

I'm glad you've recognised the Steam Angle to CNX production. As far as I can work out this is the Ace/Wild Card for CNX that makes it different from the score of worldwide UCG companies still experimenting with Commercial Production.

Again I'd like to point out that so far this 100day trial has had NO STEAM trial whatsoever.Despite an engineer pointing out to me that setting the parameters is paramount for these Trials,I still figure that say a 30day Steam Trial will provide only very scratchy data on the CNX process ie there may be a spike on Announcement Day but no sustained rise will occur.
Long Term Holders and those holding above say 50cents should plan accordingly.

    Happy New Year.
