What we need is a LAND TAX. Get all those rich retirees out of their multi-million dollar houses and into low cost retirement villages/homes or communes. Then the final solution!!!! Look at the Federal Government's support for those youngsters out there. With a press of a key, or maybe a click of the mouse, they create what was it, $70 billion in new money. And how did they spend it? All on the youngsters out there with the "Job Keeper" and "Job Seeker" initiatives, and free childcare, and who knows what else. And what did the elderly self funded retirees get - zilch, apart from a free ticket into what could be called the Government's "Grim Reaper" initiative (read that as "Nursing Home") - the final solution.

On a more serious note, SMSF Pension funds are capped at $1.6 million these days. My SMSF has a very low percentage of funds allocated to speculative stock investments. Most retirees could expect from say 4% to 9% return from their SMSF investments these days If I was forced to pay tax at marginal rates on that income I would have to seriously consider moving cash into a new Primary Residence Investment. No tax to be paid there, and I would qualify for a part or full pension as well. And what is the outcome? All that newly create money is taken from productive investments and buried in non-productive residential land. What a waste, buried there just waiting for the next credit induced speculative land boom and the crash that follows where all that wealth just disappears. It's just around the corner too! 2026 is the year to watch.
