re: appointment of director It really is not that complicated.
CRR reneged on the deal for reasons unknown. They were offered an extension. In a deal such as this why the hell would they care who they deal with.
They deal with despotic governments in the Congo, why would JRV present a problem? Unlike other parts of the world where bribes and corruption are a means to do business, Australian is not like that.

Double Link negotiated the deal? What absolute crap. How could they do this without JRV board approval? Maybe they did hold talks with CRR without the full knowledge of the board? The only person who would gain the most from this arrangement would be Richard Campbell and Double Link. Perhaps CRR were confused as to who they were dealing with and how they could improve their position with some assurances from Double Link that they would offer them a better deal and get rid of DP? Anything is possible after the behaviour of past and a current director.

Why would it be any single reason? Commodity prices, economic downturn, reduced demand for Ni or uncertain process to treat a low grade resource may be some reasons to postpone a deal. All of these would not be unreasonable to seek an extension before signing the formal agreement. Remember this is a business contract and if you can’t meet deadlines there would be penalties or renegotiation of the deal.

How about this for a reason to extend: We have not completed ‘Due Diligence’. From the signing of the framework agreement at the end of May to the 31st October CRR did not complete ‘Due Diligence’ and used this as an excuse not to sign by the due date.
It is always very easy to point the finger when thinks don’t work out but what about Double Link’s role. IF they were as involved as some posters have indicated maybe they stuffed up the deal.

    Who is Double Link?
Who does Richard Campbell represent on the Board and why is he there?
What financial reward would Double Link receive if CRR sign a deal?
What deals (if any) have Double Link done with Chinese companies?
Have they delivered anything of value to JRV apart from Chinese Junkets to Australia?

Anyone who thinks CRR will come back into this deal is dreaming. They had plenty of opportunity and said no thanks (for the moment). Norm must chuckle when this one comes up. Like the rest of the miners he knows that Ni laterites are stuffed until a better process is found to recover the metal. I very, very much double that Norm, for all his business skills, can produce a flow sheet for Young. Norm has his own laterites with no economic process for them either!!!! If Jiaming did have a process why doesn’t Norm just deal with them? He would stand to earn far more from his laterites than his small investment in JRV. Maybe Norm’s chasing the same Holy Grail as JRV. That would be worth sticking your nose in if JRV were advanced in their R&D. In the interests of JRV and their shareholders? Business is business.

Australian companies need to negotiate deals with foreign companies that are fair and equitable to ALL parties. We should not assume a ‘hello boys’ position and get shafted. Do us a favour all you Chinese ‘experts’ and don’t give us all that rubbish about sensibilities, saving face, Western ignorance in negotiations, cultural differences, “I’ve been to China” etc. If the deal is good you don’t look for excuses not to finalise. It really is soooooo easy. Yeah right!!
