Hi Herewegoagain, do you understand why we use timber framed brick veneer construction?
We have highly reactive clay soils and mine subsidence areas here on the East coast, a double brick home here with little to no expansion and control joints would end up looking like the bottom of a clay based dry dam in a drought.
We can erect a full timber frame and roof trusses on a 4 bed in one day ready for the brickies the next. Timber has a lot more tensile strength than masonry, it can cope with a massive amount of movement, it's been a well proven structural building material for a very long time and it's very cost effective way to build. It makes installing and later accessing electrical and hydrolics a breeze.
You were the one that posted updated photos of the FBR display home last week saying that the are using timber lintels and you said it's a great idea lol.
