margin lending??.

Good thing or a bad thing.Have just received an email offering a discount on a margin loan...from a major bank.
Do you have to be a whizz kid to use such a facility?.
Is it prudent to borrow $30K by,say, buying banks or billiton or other blue-chips.
I would really like to hear from users of thismethod of getting rich/poor.
