Publicly listed companies can't really pick and choose these announcements due to continuous disclosure rules. I'd imagine the expansion plans were finalized this weekend so had to be released today. An acquisition is different to making plans to organically expand into other markets, the latter which may be an announcement that the company has more control over.

But it's okay, let the haters try and make a story out of this while we count the change.
