You don't become a holder when you buy. You become a holder when you settle (pay).
On the ASX this is known as T2
"Under the ASX’s new T+2 settlement period, trades are settled two business days after the Trade Date. In the below scenario, if you trade on a Monday, settlement will take place on the Wednesday. Days are shown as an example only. T+2 will take effect from the day the trade order is executed." - commsec
To be a holder at record date COB 26/8/20 you must have purchased on 24/8/20 (yesterday).
Punters buying today or tomorrow will have no entitlement.
