It’s because the NBC rights to the NFL and EPL for example are only good to 2022. After that it’s very uncertain because content producers like Amazon and Apple will be chasing these rights and they’ve got much deeper pockets and a better platform to deliver the content.
The future of sports is not with networks like CBS or NBC.
