My understanding of the dividend question is as follows:
It is part of CER company constitution that it has to distribute its taxable income.In june 2008 the distributions announcement says this as well.
They estimated there taxable income to be $32M and thus distributed 1.4c a share ($32M)
There taxable incomes was in fact a bit less than $32M page 4 of the annual report lists there taxable income as $25M.
So unless things are to get dramatically worse and there income drops they should pay a dividend of similar proportions to june 2008.
I think debfabter did a big calc on there expected distributable income for the half year ending dec 31 2008. He came up with 7.2cents...
Not sure how you would work out taxable income from this... But if you were to assume it would be in proportion to the taxable income in 2008, then there taxable income would be about the same for 2009.
Therefore they should distribute something around the 1.5c to 2c mark....
