Or maybe it has something to do with being the first PM ever in Australia's history to inherit a $22b bank a/c that is not in red ink!!!
Most PM's have had to balance income & expenditure from the start of their term. If spending were to increase in a given area of the economy taxes had to be raised or expenditure cut elsewhere. This always bring some resentment from the people who pay extra tax or the people affected by the cut in expenditure to their industry type.
Rudd has not had to do this as YET!!! Hence the popularity. Just spend, spend, spend.........
