The other factor here I think is the current generation.

The simple fact is they dont give a s*#t and if they are not happy with their employer they will vote with their feet and hence don't need a useless union.

They are not going to get tied into union fees either and will treat these as a complete waste of money.They are better connected through university and if they feel they are hard done by will not hesitate to commence some sort of legal action.The unions are dinosaurs in the current environment and our Englis friends who seem to currently be the face of them need to look for alternate employment.
