Echoing Robb's cautionary advice. After-hours trades in the USA are very unreliable, very limited, and pretty much meaningles.
Dow futures are a better guide, and even that is very unreliable.
The market open in the USA is a better guide, and even that is pretty much unreliable.
The on-market performance of BHP in London is extremely unreliable, as it is overtaken by New York which pays no heed to London.
