it can't be forgotten that Rudd duplicated the majority of liberal policy and only differentiated himself during the election campaign in 3 key areas:
- climate change / carbon policy (since then he has backtracked and largely replicates Howard's final position)
- industrial law / Workchoice rollback (haven't seen much on that front)
- less spending / fiscal conservatism
On a side note he also said he'd get tough with Japanese whalers, oh and a laptop for every student. Well we know how much progress there's been on those fronts.
Rudd did this to capture the "time for change but let's have more of the same" vote.
this left the Liberal party with little ground to differentiate themselves in opposition. It's little wonder they're floundering.
