    EL,
I have OEX on the list. Metal miners are not my priority as I think energy will be the first to turn the corner. Gold looks good in the short term with uranium in the med/long term.

With the exploration rush having almost completely gone into Iron Ore, its been decades since serious gold exploration in Australia has been conducted. Most of the known Australian gold deposits are still very touch and go (even at the high gold prices).

You have to remember I only paid $2 for wpl and $7 for bhp, so besides all the divi's over the years I am still well in the green. One of my biggest wins was with the Xstrata takeover of Jubilee Mines I brought them in the late 80's as a speci for 0.12c. They sent me a cheque in 2007 for $23 a share. I absolutely despised Harmanis as CEO but he got lucky with a sensationally rich deposit. Many times I was going to sell them because I hated the management with Harmanis in the driving seat, but I could see the promise of the resource with the drill results. If Jubilee had Jacobson type management it would have been so much easier and maybe an even better result.

Jubilee and Woodside have taught me to be patient if I want the big dollar return.

Politicians all tell lies because their lips move, but like a company CEO there are good ones and there are bad ones. Good management is about "final results" this only comes from making tough decisions, these tough decisions should never be made based on their popularity.

Old Kev would have us all driving big V8 pickups and cutting down trees if thats what the polls said he had to believe in. The guy has not a clue about what to do and you can see that with stupidity like the Toyota deal, cash handouts, 20/20 summits etc. All popularity winning news makers but they do little for the real economic issues that are eating at Australia's prosperity. Its a big joke and one that taxpayers will have to pay for at the end of the day.

The media has a hell of a lot to answer too as far as I am concerned. Cheque book journalism is heavily influencing the ill informed public.
