    Bermee, the problem is that the value of a stock is only what is is perceived to be by investers, given the current financial situation. Stocks like WPL may be valued at $5 in the coming years for all we know. Highly doubtfull, but this is the way you have to look at it IMO. Remember that every stock is actually worth nothing, it only gains "value" by the percieved value of it by investors.

    At the end of the day Bermee, I dont think that know is a good time to be buying and holding, as tempting as it might be. I think the market will hit a V bottom at some point, then rally a tiny bit before going sideways for a few years until the recessions are over. When THAT happens, its the time to start picking them off. There is virtually no risk, the larger blue chips will be streamlined and will have taken over the smaller fish. They will be far bigger and better companies.
