Have you read the EPA report?

Have you read any EPA reports on WA SOP projects?

In the key recommendations at the end of the Lake Disappointment and Beyondie reports there is no mention of cultural heritage/sites. The APC Lake Wells report has a lengthy recommendation #9 on heritage/sites/consultation.

The Waturta NT claim was registered with the NNTT just before APC announced it had acquired mining leases. There is scant mention of NT or dealing with Traditional owners in any APC presentation including the recent FEED update. There is mention of "no right to negotiate" with respect to leases in a presentation from around 12 months ago. Now we see lengthy discussion from the EPA and a news article from June.

APC didn't have to engage with TO's when they started this project because there were no registered claimants. Now there are. I'm suggested to poster 42Trader that APC may not be over the line until they deal with the Waturta. They won't go away and sympathetic media will run with this.

You need to understand how NT claimants prove their connection to the land to understand how ambiguous some of this stuff can appear to non-indigenous Australians. And you are correct there may be some opportunism in the timing.
