Nice this space heating up beautifully....
"Firefly shows similar sensitivity and specificity to ResApp (with a slight bias to higher sensitivity, and slightly reduced specificity)." So this technology is claiming to be about the same as our tech hmmm I have big doubts. We already knew that our technology is a bit better than Drowzle and that received FDA clearance no reason why SleepCheck won't either... it'll be interesting to see if the sensitivity and specificity holds with more test subjects as it looks like they only had 120 odd.. "We had total of 308 patients that were recruited for the study in the real world.
I very much so doubt that Firefly will work correctly in the real world with thick doona covers affecting their sonar technology most likely. It looks like at this stage it has just been tested in a controlled environment. I really don't think this is going to be better than our technology and considering that ResMed is so keen on this heightens my expectation that it is likely they will just simply buy us out or partner up with us. It's a drop in the ocean for them..
Oh another major difference
"ResApp’s algorithms correctly identified patients with OSA across the three AHI thresholds, with a sensitivity of 85%, 83% and 83% for AHI thresholds of 5/h, 15/h and 30/h respectively. At these
thresholds the algorithms had a specificity of 73%, 80% and 90%. The measure of specificity for
AHI threshold of 5/h was limited due to the low numbers of study participants with very low AHI."
Firefly seem to be focusing on AHI 15/h I can't see the results for the lower highest thresholds.
They've come close but not close enough, I believe ResMed sharks are circling IMO.
I'm excited
Cheers
