Thank you for your thoughts. Here are some thoughts of mine running along a similar line but ending with a different question.

Is there any value in paper currencies not pegged to gold or silver?

Silver and gold are naturally in short supply and are incorruptible.

Paper is intrinsically of little value and currency is at least as corruptible as the governments which print them.

What is happening now that people are realising that there is no intrinsic wealth in paper currencies?
