"If you're game enough try doing a comparison of its price performance over say the last 20 years relative to other major global economy's stock market indices (other than the current US 'Bubble' equity market indices) and come back and tell us/show us it's a universally lousy performer by comparison."



Gold vs DAX, Nikkei, FTSE & ASX 200 over the past 20 years. Doesn't look like such a "lousy bet" to me.
