Instead of sending huge amounts of information to some far off place that takes time and costs money in energy and storage, this technology allows you to process the information at the source leading to significant oppourtunities in automation. some proven use cases include the analysis of video stream data in casinos to automatically detect cheating and dealer error, vehicle safety systems for driverless capabilities, instant alerting and identification of high risk criminals in cctv footage, drone surveliance of bushfire risks.... the list goes on. In a nutshell this technology is the first of its kind to offer low energy, high velocity big data processing. I hope this is somewhat clearer.
