I work in IT and when we have big projects, we usually hire someone with experience in similar implementations. This is done so that the company has a proxy that speaks on the same level, understands the boundaries of what can/can’t be done, while having the companies interests at heart. This stops the provider from pulling the wool over the companies eyes.
They do a lot of the data checking, analysis and watch over the implementation. Once it’s live, they also do maintenance and are the first point of contact for issues and work with the provider to get issues resolved.
