Quote “unless you worked recently at the airport you know nothing of what occurs on tarmac” unquote....
I have spent nearly 30 years in aviation, abroad and domestically home in Australia I have worked for both major airlines and ground handling companies and I can tell you now; Insourced airline ramp employees statistically have more safety related events. Airlines by their own data recognise the ground handling companies operate safer than their own staff. Interestingly, Outsourced customer service staff (check in etc) also generate higher levels of customer compliments than airlines own CS staff.
Ground handling companies work more “efficiently”, not “cheaper”. There is a huge difference in those two words
Whether you like it or not, or agree or not, this is a good deal for QF group and will yield better customer experiences, safer operations and a more commercially “efficient” operation.
Airlines would not hand their safety reputations over to cowboys. Ground Handling businesses like Swissport do this for a living. It’s What they specialise in and they are dam good at it.
