Truview has been around for donkeys. The cloud version is more recent. But it is a scan-by-scan viewer as opposed to a full orbit.

Euclideon likewise has been around for a while. And whilst not browser based until udStream - you can stream to a installed viewer from a hosted server - this is via Leica Jetstream (at least) which has Euclideon gear in it in some proportion.

Bentley has used the LOD viewer Acute for must be a decade or so. Can stream very large meshes - which is a point cloud + triangles + textures. You can see point cloud.

The interesting one I spotted the other day was nira.app.

Google have a compression tech called Draco. Used in various places.

A browser is still pretty limited. Whilst handy, native viewers have significant upside IMHO.

Delivery via internet is still critical, but the delivery needs to be within Esri, within Revit, within Civil 3D etc .. not separate. That does tend to rely a little on the original platforms, or writing plugins.

For example - Cloudworx - stream point cloud data from Jetstream straight to Revit. ~ $2,800 per annum per cloudworx license - just saying - plus a port fee at the server end. That is too expensive for mainstream adoption, but there is little point hosting the point clouds in 3 or 4 places - it needs to be one place .. with plugins/native access .. possible with web viewers - but certainly with per scan view. You can find truview global easily enough for sample data.
