Hi Parsifal, Reckon netting a big tree needs a man. Now hope that isn't sexist or anything, but the male who nets his plum tree does it with long posts inserted firmly in the garden and angled across the tree and from these the netting is supported, so that the netting doesn't touch the tree itself. It is a very effective way of keeping out the animals and his "doorways" in the net overlap and get clipped for additional security.

I reckon being locked down in a hotel would be extremely annoying especially for you with all that land on which you could wander about happily with your house and coffee pot nearby. Bliss. I liked Melbourne when it had far less people in it. Everywhere is crowded (before corona, of course). Even going for a walk yesterday in my own street at one point I counted twenty people visible to me, and that's because they were all out on the bicycle track, dogs galore, etc. I have not yet gone out (my excuse, very windy), but I need to read the Dinosaur Joke Blackboard (mind you, the internet has probably provided me with all those jokes now) and that is my very exciting ho hum reason for anticipating an exciting afternoon. I did attend Zoom church this morning but one of the loveliest and most gracious ladies on God's earth who attended this church was reported to have passed on. Don't know the rules re Melbourne funerals but probably service of very few will be held outside in the garden.
