You might want to check your numbers.
In 2019, 320,000 tonnes of lithium was produced, 65% of which was used in batteries.
The consensus on lithium consumption in EV batteries is 0.83kg / kwh. If average battery pack at 60kwh, thus 50kg/battery.
40 million EV x 50kg = 2,000,000,000kg (2 bill). 2 bill/1,000 = 2,000,000 (2 mill) tonnes of lithium required.
In twh's, 40 mill EV's by 60kwh = 2.4twh. 2.4twh x .83 = 1,992,000 tonnes of lithium, checks out....
