Have to remember that Liddell is in a cluster of ageing coal fired power stations in or around Newcastle / Hunter Valley which provides a significant amount of power to NSW.
Origin Earing - 2800MW built in 1982 (Aus largest)
AGL Bayswater - 2600MW built in 1986
AGL Liddell - 1600MW built in 1973
Delta Vales Pt - 1300MW built in 1978
A decent power station hasn't been built in Newcastle / Hunter Valley in around ~35 years. Need to look at the long game as these power stations won't last forever.
Mt Piper is the only remaining coal fired power station in the state with 1400MW built in 1993.
Tick tock , Tick tock - Someone better come up with a solution soon.
