Our relationship with China currently is ZERO to do with the USAs relationship with them . The problem erupted when our government rightly put some hard questions to them over Covid and they didn't like it so they started dreaming up ways to "hurt" Australia by banning several of the items we export to them and putting larger tariffs on others as well as suddenly dragging Australian citizens in China in for questioning over spying / espionage and anything else they could think of . Not a thing to do with the USAs claims over territorial waters .
