Yes, I remember the small pall of shareholder gloom that descended on us holders of Kinross Gold when they issued a small number of shares without our permission, as it were. But kinross really is a powerhouse of production, whose annual production is rapidly accelerating. The main reason is that they are almost the only foreign gold company with a powerful Russian ally who have cracked the problem of operating in dangerous Russian financial waters, - their Kupol field is doing well. The thing about Newcrest is- they have to find their "Kupol"- will it be Martabe, with its sovereign risk or somewhere else to get them over the 2 million ounce per year hurdle?
