Fact is, the Liberal Perty are not only at pains to take into account the interests of current voters and taxpayers, they are also mindful of the burden this Govt. will leave for future taxpayers/voters.
But the point of your post was in relation to Rudd not being accountable for the likely future deficit due to events being outside his control. The dubiousness of that argument was countered.
This Govt. needs to manage their expenditure and the buck stops with them, whether they can handle it is another question.
