If this is the case, it already shows a significant price drop. A couple of years ago the wholesale price to installers was $A10,500, so a $9,000 retail price implies a wholesale price somewhere in the $6,000 range. I don't think Gen 3 batteries are being made yet, so this will be the price for the existing (probably still quite large) stock of Gen 2.5 batteries currently in the warehouse. $6,000 is also likely to be an indication of what they plan to sell Gen 3 batteries for when they get manufacturing under way. That's a pretty decent price - competitive, but with plenty of margin (I reckon the Gen 3 manufacturing cost is around $3,000).
Good to have another QLD installer. A couple of years ago the other one (Carbon Friendly Enterprises) told me ZBM was not appropriate for on-grid and I should get a Powerwall.
