Two things Alan...firstly people who don't really need the stimulus money will probably quickly spend it or hand it over to their kids who will spend it even faster. Once the money re-enters the system it circulates doing some good but eventually it all finds it's way back into government coffers so these handouts don't really cost the government a lot over time because through one tax or another they get it back. For example with money spent on petrol or beer excise and GST immediatly retuns about half of it to the government.
Secondly it is the Liberals who have been demanding to know what Treasury thinks of the packages. Now Ken Henry and other officials have given their opinion to the Senate their views should be accepted. It is unfair to dismiss them and insult them as you have simply because they are not what you wanted to hear.
