Certainly some hype over at PLL, good luck to those who hold, but tesla has only been able to secure on an LCE basis, ~8.4 tonnes from PLL. This indicates that there is some desperation emerging among OEM's. Pure speculation, but it's reasonable to assume Tesla spoke with many producers to secure larger volumes, before heading to PLL
However, producers would have explained we are sold out, our supply is already under offtake agreements, including our expansion capacity. Even ALB/Min/Wodgina, who would have said we are prepared to sell you hydroxide, but our spod in not for sale, we need it to feed our hydroxide plant, similar story over at Greenbushes.
To make matters worse, China, Japan and South Korea at the chem conversion level have multiple and large downstream customers, thus they sold out too, but we do have expansion coming on line shortly, and we may have a little bit of spare capacity, will 10kt of hydroxide be enough? EM says nfw, I need 65kt to support giga Texas and Berlin, but yeah I'll take that 10kt, thanks for ya help......
