Contingent resources means contingent on possibly many things, like contingent on facilities, pipeline, contracts, clients, field development plan (approved followed by financial investment decision), a defined plan in a 2 to 3 year timeline, ie imminent, The Proven reserves (1,2,3) require proven productivity, 1P being connected to wells, 2P volume being 1P plus near future approve development wells, and 3P looking a bit further in the future.
If you would like a more, and better, detailed description, you may want to google PRMS and SPE, together, the Society of Petroleum Engineers defined the procedure, which has been adopted by ASX, NYSA, etc, the ones that count, all the auditors that I know off also follow these defitions and flow paths.
