Life experience is something which sometimes makes these types of academic questions just that academic.
My life experience tells me that in the real world if a real person has enough time to devote to the question raised they have enough time to avoid the accident completely.
Consideration. of these questions usually only arise after the event as a survivor or observer attempts to rationalise the choices made.
