Ignoring the business side of this thread, the consumer will be the big winner.

I have travelled to the US annually for the last 12 years. As United's position got worse & worse, Qantas' prices got higher. It was gouging at it's worst. Last year I paid $3k return, as of the end of the month I will pay $1200

I don't know how sustainable this will be for 4 airlines once Delta begins, but as a consumer I welcome the compeition and am happy that I will no longer be the victim of such blatant Qantas gouging.
