Not sure you quite understand what these scenarios are about. In a self-driving car, these decisions have to be made ahead of time. These decisions will have to be programmed into the self-driving logic. Even deciding not to write logic that weighs up the options and tries to make a decision is itself making a decision.

Sure, if you're driving, you will make a split-second decision based on some instict, bias, or something else. Of course, if you had time to think about it in depth then you would probably just stop the car.

This website isn't about what you would do given the options, it's about what you would want the self-driving car that is driving near you to do. Or what you want your own self-driving car to do.

Should it move into your lane to kill you in favour of a child? A nurse? A criminal? Or should it stay in its own lane and kill whoever is illegally crossing the road? Should it crash you and your family into a concrete barrier to avoid killing someone legally crossing the road if your brakes fail. Etc.

Again, these are all decisions that will have to be programmed ahead of time. Self-driving cars should save lives in other ways, but this is a real, current problem.

Obviously nothing to do with the value of BRN, just an interesting topic.
