Marine risers are not normally run from the boat on most semis. On the Songa Venus the riser is stored on the riser deck....on the port side of the main deck. The riser can be run with a fair swell running but landing out the lower marine riser package onto the top of the BOP is the tricky part. If the compensator is not the best as is the case on the SV then you risk wrecking the LMRP and/or BOP.
