    The circumstances are serious (at least for markets)...
    this close to election and given his age.. plus what will happen to the election, campaigns, debates, etc.

    But yes assuming he survives, the sympathy factor may actually work for him.
    If it was me, and polls were this bad, I'd even think about faking COVID.
