Some quick googling of 'Off Label' tells me this is a common practice. Drug manufacturers/suppliers are not permitted to market the drug for anything other than the approved indication, but doctors are permitted to prescribe for other indications if they believe it to be of benefit and will cause no harm.

The key will be finding a way to get the message out to doctors that iPPS might cure all kinds of ailments. Its easy to see that doctors could potentially use iPPS to treat someone with finger joint pain but who does not have knee pain. I wonder how a doctor would react if (hypothetically) I contracted Ross River Fever but had no OA pain and asked the doctor to give me a course of iPPS injections...

This leads me to conclude that given iPPS is already approved for a bladder inflammation problem (excuse me if my details are wrong), doctors could perhaps already prescribe it for OA pain. It seems we are spending over $100m on trials for OA knee pain as this is the only way to legally market iPPS to the widest market possible.
