Lees accused of having secret lover
Joanne Lees today admitted she had a second lover while she was living with her boyfriend Peter Falconio in Sydney.

Ms Lees today took to the witness stand for a third day in the committal hearing in Darwin Magistrates Court for Bradley John Murdoch, who is accused of Mr Falconio's murder.

Under cross examination, Ms Lees admitted she was having a sexual relationship over several weeks with a man named Nick in Sydney, before she and Mr Falconio set off on a driving trip around Australia.

Asked if she had had a sexual relationship with another man while living with Mr Falconio, she replied:"I'm going to answer yes, but I wouldn't class it as an affair or a relationship."

After Mr Falconio's disappearance in the Northern Territory in July 2001, police questioned Ms Lees about her second email account and her relationship with Nick, the court heard.

Defence lawyer Grant Algie asked Ms Lees if she was planning to meet up with Nick in Berlin on the way home to the UK.

Ms Lees replied: "I made a suggestion".

"So you made a suggestion that might happen?," he asked.

    "Yes," Ms Lees said.

Under cross-examination Ms Lees also revealed she had been paid $128,680 for an exclusive interview with a British television channel.

Prosecutor Rex Wild, QC, objected to the questioning, but Mr Algie said it was relevant "because motive to perpetuate this story is relevant".

However, Ms Lees said she no longer had an exclusive relationship with Granada Television, and said she had given no interviews with the media since Murdoch's arrest.

"I get numerous offers from various media organisations, but no," Ms Lees said, saying she had not given any more interviews.

She was asked about the discussion last week over whether the media would be able to photograph her in return for a donation.

"One donation to a charity, yes," she said.

"Why didn't it happen,?" Mr Algie asked.

"Because I thought the offer the media made was pitiful really," Ms Lees replied.

Ms Lees has now finished giving her evidence.

The next witness is expected to be Vince Millar, one of the truck drivers who picked up Ms Lees after the alleged attack on her and Mr Falconio.
