My gut feel is that the appointment is more about bringing leverage to the table with Western Digital.
Things have been starting to drag in terms of selling the company, but now they can say make a move WD or we let our new Chairman loose on your competitors.
It does feel like things won't wrap up in 2021 given this appointment though, but it does seem to be an incredibly high calibre appointment.
