Most of the world believes in some sort of god and at best only one can be right, but the odds are that with so many different views, they are all wrong.
So yes that makes most of the world "non thinkers" as you suggest.
With a world full of superstitious people you can't be surprised at anything.
Let's face it, we are probably all non Vulcan and work off prejudices, false beliefs, neurosis and pseudo science.
How many of us are willing to seriously reevaluate our views and beliefs.
Not many, it is much more comfortable to switch off our minds and stick to our guns, rather than face disturbing our comfort zone.
