It is worth pointing out that graphene was discovered in 2004.

Starting with this perspective and the hoop-la associated with graphene over intervening ears, it does remind not to get over-hyped and suffer FOMO to early, as I suspect some here have BOOM.

While consensus opinion that FGR may be awful at delivering on promises, imagine getting excited say in 2006? Or even 2010?

At this point a fair bet would be that twenty years from discovery to full commercialisation by serious actors feels about right.

There you go, think about retiring about 2024-ish.
