I don't know why racism has entered the conversation, this is more to do with safe keeping Australian assets for future generations. Begging the question, do we want to continue on the path of being mere workers for absentee landlords who have no problems with rapidly depleting these mineral resources we speak of.

When Australia is cored out, as it will be one day, then Rio and other foreign entities will simply move elsewhere, and this is the crux of the issue. Plenty of examples exist around the world, so why would Australia be any different, than say, the great mines of Africa, or Nauru perhaps, with their natives left poverty stricken because their natural assets were squandered.

Since OPEC members are now paying attention to the only crop they have, oil, and have realised that past generations squandered its wealth by way of allowing foreign control, then why shouldn't we at least consider doing the same.

Certainly as a minima, give some thought and provision for future generations of Australians

OPEC kicked foreign entities out long ago, and now employ them as serfs to work the diggings(highly paid perhaps, nevertheless, serfs), whereas, at the present time one only need take a cursory glance at who owns what in Australia, and who are the serfs, and it will become evident that we here are the OPEC position pre the 1970's

There's far more to this conversation than the bad managment of a British company or the the fact that the Chinese government, via it's commercial entity Chinalco want our resources for exclusive use, the larger question we need to address has to go beyond short-termism and factor in the needs of children today, and their children.
