" Totally agree! Without looking up any details my understanding is/was that the water that they bought comes down the Paroo River. The Paroo flows intermittently and is basically driven by rainfall that is over and above the local catchment's capacity to absorb. Thus it's a hit and miss arrangement and the water they paid for is not reliable as it will spread out over the Paroo's flood plain................ sometimes making it to the Darling River and sometimes not. I think the whole thing is a scam and Politicians are up to their eyeballs in it. If I had any say in the matter I'd have an RC and set up legislation prior to the RC so that people holding Public Office rot in prison if found to have been robbing the Public Purse. MI

there is no point in destroying a river vital in a desert environment just to line the pockets a few cotton barons and satisfy Chinas desire for fresh new cotton underpants in the first place.
