no harm in the company offering instructions... they'd be happy to receive funds earlier....
plenty of people have both heads and options... and may trade where there is an advantage to do so... i.e. if options at some point are cheaper than the heads by more than the exercise price, then sell some shares, buy the options and exercise into heads.... quite a few will happily do this for a pip or two....can be an guaranteed win... (providing you are happy to hold and wait while the options are being converted).
