ZZ you do not get it. I do not deny what has been said, however what I originally said was no "fairy tale" as you accused me of. The Galileo affair has hung around the neck of the Church like an albatross and JP2 was trying to do something about it when he came out with his comment. But the truth of the matter of what actually happened scientifically is what I posted. Galileo persisted in teaching the Copernican idea of earth going around the sun as fact. The Church, in the interest of what is true because the idea was not a proven fact at the time, said do not teach it as fact but as hypothesis only. He tended to ignore that even though he was free to say what he wanted if he just taught it as hypothesis. Eventually he was suspected of heresy hence the judgment. It has been an embarrassment ever since partly because it has been used to suggest that the Church is anti-Science which it is not.

    Regards
