I'm sure this will be a positive for Z1P's share price today but no where near $10. Heck if it makes $8 of the back of this announcement I'd be happy.

The pay anyway cards make 0% merchant fees. It may not have a material impact on revenue but it is a step in further engraining ZipPay with the consumer, so likely revenue will flow through other avenues down the line.


Personally I've always hated the thought of people using BNPL for groceries because the nature of groceries does not align at all with what BNPL is supposed to be, a budgeting tool. This makes sense when buying a one-off $200 purse, or paying the new Xbox over a longer period of time.

Groceries, however, are bought every week and the prices don't really fluctuate. So if someone feels the need to use ZipPay one week then they have likely overspent. In two weeks they'll need to worry about spending approximately the same amount as always + on top of that the repayments from purchases made 2 weeks ago. Petrol makes a little more sense to me since people sometimes fill up one a month.

I like the idea of the Pay anywhere card, I just hope not too many people use it for groceries. That's not the kind of customers I want on the books.
