The smartest shorters dont take a risk of a gap up overnight and are out before close - content to take increments may times over per day WHICH MAKES MONTHLY TURNOVER IRRELEVANT. What is relevant is what they CAN DO within the day. What CER is worth in 2 years time matters nought.

Chacabear - the better shorts have multple bids in both the buy and sell queues through the day and are very busy. They can clear 100% profit on the day despite no price change occurring at all overall.

0.04 to 0.048 is a lot more variation then they need. 0.047 t 0.048 is fine for a 20% profit on the day for just 10 completed close outs. This can be done in less than 5 minutes by the way!

Of course they need sellers from elsewhere. A few fearmongering downramps on the chatsites, a bot to pressure the price down an increment on just 1 share triggering a stop loss order etc etc and they have it.

Hotcopper should really look to have an educational area for newbies as to how these things are done. Or more bluntly an area which tells people how the sharks prey on less informed market particpants in the various ways.
